Since 1978, the Music and Worship Ministry of Bethesda Community Church has been an integral part of this fellowship of believers. Under the direction of Dove-award winning producer, arranger, and orchestrator J. Daniel Smith for 33 years, the ministry flourished. The choir became the centerpiece of the ministry, filling the choir loft every Sunday to lead their church family into worship. Known for musical excellence, the heart of the choir was to give their all in lifting up the name of Jesus and ministering to people.
In 2011, when J. Daniel Smith was elected to become Senior Pastor of Bethesda, a new era of music ministry began under the leadership of Brent Brunson. Along with his wife, Geniece, who regularly conducts the choir and sings as a part of the team, they have worked to keep the legacy of ministry and excellence in music alive within Bethesda. Soon after their arrival, Jerard and Jovaun Woods also joined the team as worship leaders. Jerard and Jovaun, known throughout the Christian music world for their studio session singing and worship leading, brought a new expression of music to the fellowship of Bethesda. With their collective experience Brent, Geniece, Jerard, and Jovaun have continued to build upon a rich history to create a sound that is a unique blend of gospel, contemporary Christian, and classic church sounds that reach everyone from young to old. They will utilize the "latest, greatest" worship songs alongside the great hymns of the church, written decades ago, to create an atmosphere where the congregation of all ages - and from all walks of life - can worship the Lord Jesus together.
The choir continues to be the centerpiece of this ministry, featuring people who love the Lord and love to sing.
Bethesda Music exists to lift high the name of Jesus and to allow the ministry of music - through the power of the Holy Spirit – to bring encouragement and hope to people.
