The first Christian Dj to release a turntablist record (world wide) via Rescue Records. Dj Skillspinz has been the tour Dj for groups such as Grits (Gotee Recording Artist), The Ambassador (Crossmovement), and Pastor Joyce Meyers tour (Rage Against Destruction) to name a few. Greatly influenced by Dj Jazzy Jeff, Dj Scratch (EPMD) and Dj Jam Master Jay (Run DMC), Dj Skillspinz has been rocking the turntables since the age of 8.
Soon after receiving Christ at the age of 17, Skillspinz began to emerge in the Holy Hip Hop scene. Back in 1997 at a yearly event called Cru-vention, Dj Skillspinz served as the deejay for legendary groups such as L.P.G. & The Tunnel Rats, Sup the Chemist, and Knowdaverbs just to name a few. He quickly gained the attention of artists such as Grits, Crossmovement and Verbs formally Knowdaverbs and soon after recording his (Verbs) e.p. "Knowdaverbs" and provided the cuts on "I Got It Made." A remake of the Special Ed old school song. He can also be heard on Grits (gotee records) "Dichotomy A" and be seen in the video "Hittin" Curves." (see discography)
With his skills on the tables over shadowing his beat making skills, he produces some of the tightest joints like "Shadow Dance" from Playdoughs album Lonely Superstar to his fully produced record "Reintroduction of the Dj" which garnered a Dove Awards consideration. Not to mention his new installment, The Foundation, distributed world wide via EMI Gospel.
Skillspinz has been nominated for numerous awards, sold thousands of cd's and traveled the world while remaining humble in Christ. He is always touring and in the studio creating progressive music that aims to uplift. "I am not trying to create an alternative to secular music, but a ministry to spread the uncompromised WORD OF GOD". The bible says to go out into the world and preach the gospel. So I'm hittin the streets gettin my grind on, looking fly with my chain I got my shine on- Hustle.
To all those scratchy Skillspinz fans out there, when you come to a Skillspinz show, bring him a box of hot tameles. They are his favorite candy. Peace out-Outty 5000 (remember that? ha ha ha)
