Waiting for Iris is Jenna Creps and Jesi Kettering. The two have been friends since kindergarten, sharing many of the same excitements and disappointments. In their sophomore year, Jesi suffered a knee injury during a basketball game that restricted her from playing sports for months. During her time of rehab she started writing music and discovered a new passion that would soon be shared with her best friend, Jenna. The two began singing together at every opportunity. Whether singing at a small event or opening for a national artist, they have realized that this is something they want to do for the rest of their lives.
After graduating high school in the summer of 2003, the girls recorded their first project with producer Mark Lee Townsend (Relient K, Evan Anthem). During that time they made their first music video from that project. The video for "Sadistic Symphony" is currently airing on the Sky Angel Network.
For the next two years the girls attended- and loved- their short-lived college experience in Tennessee. But in September 2005, Waiting For Iris released their second album titled "Apology" and realized a move back home to Columbus, Ohio was the next step.
The music of Waiting for Iris is piano based rock. The fresh melodies and innovative harmonies create a refreshing framework for the lyrics that look at many aspects of love, life and faith. The girls will travel as just the two of them and play acoustic shows or they will travel with a full band for a more intense live sound. Iris has opened for and played on programs with a wide range of nationally known Christian artists such as Nicole Nordeman, Everyday Sunday, Newsong Point of Grace, Newsboys, John Reuben, Fred Hammond, Across the Sky, Wayne Watson, Mark Schultz, Kids in the Way, Staple, Zilch, The Wedding, Casting Pearls and Petra.
For as much as Jesi and Jenna love music, God has given them an even greater passion for people. One example of this is their recent partnership with World Vision to help remind people of the intense need and importance of child sponsorship . Every time they are able to stand before a group of people, they are reminded they have a greater purpose than simply singing to entertain an audience. Their name, Waiting For Iris, was inspired by this concept. 'Iris' means message and the girls intend to write and sing music that is more than just words. They understand that the world is waiting for the ultimate message of truth and their goal is to be a genuine example of that through their music. Waiting for Iris is confident that in keeping their focus away from themselves and entirely on God, he will honor their efforts to serve him with their God-given passion for music
