As graduation draws near, Sierra's life becomes a roller coaster of decisions about friends and the future. Sierra hopes a trip to visit a university in Southern California with her brother and a few friends will be filled with loads of fun as well as answers to her questions about the future. If only she knew what Paul was planning to do in the fall. It would make her decision a lot easier. Or would it?
11. Closer Than Ever
A letter from Paul brings the best news Sierra can imagine! He's returning from Scotland and is planning a lay over in Portland so he can attend her graduation party. Sierra wants everything to be perfect so all her spare time is consumed with making plans for his visit. Meanwhile, everyone's making plans for college. When Sierra and Randy are both accepted at the same college, but Vicki doesn't receive the same acceptance letter, and the close friendship Sierra and Vicki had been developing now threatens to fall apart. When Paul doesn't show up at the graduation party, Sierra fears the worst.
12. Take My Hand
Sierra is about to move into her college dorm and start her freshman year of college. However, that's the least exciting bit of news in the Jensen family. The big news is that Sierra's older sister Tawni is engaged to Paul's older brother, Jeremy and both families are gathering for the celebration. At last, Sierra and Paul will see each other after a year of letter writing. "Now distance is a walking space", Paul tells her as they stroll along the beach, holding hands. Sierra is sure their relationship is going to move forward. Then Sierra responds in a way that causes Paul to pull away and make a strong comment. That comment prompts Sierra to jump to a conclusion that knocks the wind from her sails. Will Paul and Sierra ever be able to communicate honestly, from their hearts, the way they used to in their letters?
