Blue Like Jazz
Non-Religious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality
by Adriana Lima | Genre: Christian Living
Release Date: July 2003

I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn't resolve. . . . I used to not like God because God didn't resolve. But that was before any of this happened."In Donald Miller's early years, he was vaguely familiar with a distant God. But when he came to know Jesus Christ, he pursued the Christian life with great zeal. Within a few years he had a successful ministry that ultimately left him feeling empty, burned out, and, once again, far away from God. In this intimate, soul-searching account, Miller describes his remarkable journey back to a culturally relevant, infinitely loving God.

Thought Provoking | Posted August 14, 2012
This book gives you so many new perspectives. Not only is it an interesting read, but each chapter makes you think about something that affects your life. If you couldn't get into it the first time, give it another chance. I did, and I was hooked. Lots of good quotes you will want to write down from it.

awesome | Posted June 27, 2008
honestly, this book introduced me to someone being able to write for a living, and he definately earns his keep. the way he describes things and his experiences is amazing and beautiful. its made me look at certin aspects of my faith in a whole new light, taking things into consideration... the big one for me was tithing and giving to the Church. i dont want to ruin the way he looks at it but for me its really life changing.

i would recommend it for all christians if nothing else but to realize how our faith really isnt based on words and ideas alone, its about taking action.

A Fresh Look | Posted June 21, 2008
When I first starting reading this book I wasn't for sure Donald Miller was on the right track. But as I continued reading, Miller used everyday things and instances to relate to Christian spirituality. His thoughts and writings make it easy to understand the circumstances in the church world today. He even makes refrences to faults in his own life and points out faults within the church as a whole. His perspective is fresh and upbeat. If you only read one book this year, make this the one you read.

Wow, great book! | Posted May 21, 2008
I've had this book for a while and tried to read it on several occassions, but just wasn't into it. I picked it up again recently and read it in a week. Wow! He's so honest and transparent, love that!!!! I couldn't believe how some of his statements were exactly what was in my head. After a while it was like, Dude! Get outta my head! Your freakin' me out! LOL Anyway, great read! If you have it and can't get into it, wait! Keep trying until you are in "that" spot.

if you want a new look on old Christianity, this is it | Posted April 07, 2008
this book changed my way of viewing how to spread God in the world, and how God doesnt need to strict view of witnessing to fullfill His plan.

i very highly recommend this book to emerging Christians, and those looking for a new perspective

Seriously. Absolutely amazing book, if you take the time to really dig into it and think about what is being said. It was beginning of a totally new outlook for me.
