Life is full of light and shadows
Oh the joy and oh the sorrow, oh the sorrow
And yet will He bring dark to light
And yet will He bring day from night
When shadows fall on us
We will not fear
We will remember
When darkness falls on us
We will not fear
We will remember
When all seems lost
When we’re thrown and we’re tossed
We’ll remember the cost
We’re resting in the shadow of the cross
Behind the Song:
'You know that sound, the one that comes from the trunks of old Crown Victoria sedans sitting on 24 inch wheels waiting next to you at the stop light? That sound which vibrates the base of your spine and forces you to halt conversation until you are out of earshot? This again is a blatant nod to the music of influence that formed the underpinning of this album. The low-end groove was paramount and to the impetus of the song. Also of note – there is not a single guitar on the song, but rather, it is completely composed of synths. It is a thoroughly modern way of going about constructing what is, in essence, a very simple and traditional pop tune. Lyrically it points back to some of the best church music in the canon, declaring hope for all in light of the Cross (pun intended).' - David Crowder
