Jonathan Chu, violinist for hard rock group Skillet since 2008, has announced his decision to part ways with the band in order to focus more on his family.
In his nearly 8 years with the band, Chu has become an iconic and integral part of Skillet's stage performance, thrilling crowds around the world with his violin solos and theatrics. However, recent family tragedy and the wear and tear of road life led to his decision to leave the touring world. "I've done and seen more things than I could have ever dreamed," the musician shared on his personal blog. "I've grown not just as a violinist and musician but as a person; trying my hardest to never miss out on any adventure that presented itself. Any opportunity to do, eat, or see something new, I embraced with open arms and I'm so glad that I did. I love my Skillet family greatly and will miss them dearly."
Fans have been sharing an outpouring of support, well wishes and prayer through social media channels. Although the violinist will no longer be touring, he assures that "I will always and forever be a violinist and musician, a worshipper and messenger for our Savior, Jesus Christ."
