August Rain is gearing up for the release of their new single, "Highway," which has an impact date of February 17th. Produced by Jason Hoard (The Museum, Shane & Shane) at Black Cat Studios, the song notably features rich harmony vocals by Dara Maclean (appearing courtesy of Word Records).
The radio campaign got off to an unexpected head start this month, with the rootsy new Christian music single taking the #1 spot on Play MPE's Adult Contemporary Top 10 (Feb. 1, 2016) alongside highly anticipated major label singles from Zendaya, Seal, Ed Shereen and others.
"Highway," from the band's latest album, American Jesus, is a celebration of salvation and redemption, blending high-energy blues with lyrics that glorify the Father for the amazing grace and offer of salvation.
"This is not about us," says drummer Frank Bowen. "This album from conception to realization was only about pleasing the Father and being used by Him in any way He chooses. We aren't rock stars trying to be the next big thing. We are servants of the most high God and our hope is that everyone that hears this song or anything we do is encouraged and uplifted and most of all pointed to the Father."
August Rain is known for their diverse sound, which seamlessly blends worship-laced pop, blues and southern Rock, all while encouraging listeners with a message of hope and encouragement. The Georgia-based group came together as the result of leading worship in their local church. Frank Bowen (drums), Denise Bowen (keyboards & background vocals) and front man, Matthew Janzen (lead vocals, acoustic and bass), have been recording and touring since 2007, but the turning point came in 2012 when the radio-friendly "Show Me Your Light" jumped onto the Billboard airplay chart as the "Hot Shot Debut," and started getting heavy national airplay on the K-LOVE Radio Network. The band has played everywhere from churches to festivals, sharing the stage with Decemberadio, Laura Story, Aaron Shust, Lindsay McCaul, JJ Weeks Band and many others.
American Jesus is available now on CD, vinyl and digital outlets including iTunes.
