Switchfoot has made a free download of their song "Light and Heavy" available in celebration of
To Write Love on Her Arms' tenth anniversary.
The previously unreleased song was performed at one of TWLOHA's Heavy and Light events in 2009, and Switchfoot recorded it as part of their
Hello Hurricane studio sessions. Today the band made it available for the first time as a free download in exchange for email addresses. You can go here to download the song:

The song is a celebration of the band's shared history with TWLOHA, as lead singer Jon Foreman was the first person to wear one of the iconic shirts that would become a trademark of the movement. In an email to fans, Jon shared "10 years ago my friend showed up with a box of t-shirts at a SWITCHFOOT show. The shirts said 'To Write Love On Her Arms.' It felt like the beginning of a much needed conversation about the silent battle of depression and self harm. I grabbed one out of the box and wore it onstage. Since then, To Write Love On Her Arms has become a beacon of hope and recovery for thousands around the world."
Jon Foreman will also be performing as TWLOHA's special anniversary Heavy and Light event in Orlando, Florida on April 2. The band's announcement of the song download also included the option to
donate to TWLOHA and their continued efforts to spread hope, healing and support recovery in practical ways.
In addition to the download, Switchfoot announced today that they will be launching a short summer tour with Lecrae leading up to the release of their tenth studio album. You can find out more details at
