DC TALK ANNOUNCES 2017 CRUISE REUNION
After more than a week of teasing fans with sporadic (and uncharacteristic) activity on social media, dc Talk emerged last week with news that fans had been wanting to hear for 16 years: they're getting the band back together.
The GRAMMY award winning band, featuring the power trio of tobyMac, Kevin Max and Michael Tait (who's currently singing for Newsboys), will set sail together for a special performance event aboard the Jesus Freak Cruise, departing from Miami on July 11th, 2017.
The cruise will travel to the ports of Nassau, Bahamas and a private island. TobyMac and the Diverse City Band, Newsboys, Kevin Max, Finding Favour, Capital Kings, Ryan Stevenson and Hollyn will perform alongside dc Talk on the Jesus Freak Cruise line-up. Tickets will be available for purchase on May 16, 2016 by visiting www.JesusFreakCruise.com.
DISCIPLE NEEDS YOUR HELP WITH BUS REPAIRS
Disciple shared in a facebook post that their bus, affectionately known to the band and their fans as "Phyllis," currently requires an estimated $15,000 in emergency repairs.
The band was bringing the bus to a mechanic following this spring's 40+ dates on the City Rockfest tour when it broke down. They towed it the rest of the way to the mechanic, where they learned that the estimated repairs would be $15,000.
Disciple has faced bus issues many times in the past, but this expense is double that of their last emergency. Fans have instantly taken to social media to express their support and spread the word, using the hashtag #SavePhyllis. The bus emergency coincided with the band's first day in the studio recording their upcoming release Long Live the Rebels. You can visit http://disciplerocks.com/donate/ to contribute towards the financial need, and continue to keep the band in your prayers as they navigate bus repairs and recording.
I AM THEY RELEASE NEW MUSIC THIS YEAR, WELCOME NEW LEAD SINGER
Fresh off the heels of label mates Tenth Avenue North's "All The Earth Is Holy Ground" tour, I AM THEY has debuted a new recording and music video for the cover of Bethel Music's, "No Longer Slaves."
I AM THEY will be releasing three new digital recordings individually throughout the summer that will culminate into a deluxe digital edition of its 2015 Essential Records debut album. The songs to be released will include the aforementioned "No Longer Slaves," "Lord, I Need You", and new original recording "Resting Place (To The Cross)."
The group is also beginning to work on its new project that is set to release in 2017. The new project will feature the newest member of the group -- Abbie Parker -- who recently signed with the label and officially became a part of I AM THEY.
I AM THEY made its national debut in January 2015 with its self-titled album, which produced the group's lead single, "From The Day." The members of the band came together from several different churches in Carson City and first performed together at Solomon's Porch; a regular worship event bringing believers together from all over the city. The group was discovered at a Spirit West Coast festival "Battle of the Bands" where they won an opportunity to come to Nashville and have a song produced and recorded.
TAUREN WELLS ANNOUNCES SOLO DIRECTION, ROYAL TAILOR ENDS
Tauren Wells has been known for the past 12 or so years as the energetic frontman of cutting-edge pop/rock group Royal Tailor, but now, he wants to be known as a number of things: Father, husband, preacher, teacher, and yes--musician.
Wells has gone solo, effectively ending the Royal Tailor era while kicking off a new musical project that aims to balance the various callings he says God has placed in his life.
As of last week, fans are able to hear the first new music from Wells since 2013, with the brand-new song, "Undefeated" featuring Reach Records' rapper KB. The massively popular YouTube channel Dude Perfect--which has used Royal Tailor music before--got wind of the new music and insisted upon using it for their "World Records" video that released last week.
The hard-hitting, hip-hop tinged track is the first of a new crop of music from the moonwalking, vocal somersaulting artist. Recently re-signed to Provident Label Group as a solo act, Wells is gearing up for a radio single release in August, a six-song EP early this fall and a full-length project in early 2017.
