Longtime Christian rapper
Json took to Facebook Live last night to preview his upcoming album
Foreign, set to release July 8.
During the live stream, Json revealed the eight song tracklist along with the meaning behind them. Of the title track, Json said "We're different, you know? We're foreigners. We might look like everybody else when you see us originally, but once you spend time with us, you can tell that we're different." The emcee also revealed that the track "Whoa" would give fans their first taste of Dead Heroes, a recently formed rap group from St. Louis consisting of Json, Nico Wells, Tory Starks, T-Word and Bhird.
Earlier this month, Json allowed fans to vote on four possible album covers via social media, and the response was overwhelming. On the livestream Json thanked the fans who helped vote for the cover, providing them a glimpse of the winning artwork alongside the sneak peek of the new album.
Foreign is Json's first release since his return to his hometown of St. Louis almost a year ago and, as a result, the album bursts with hope and optimism. Json explains that "this project is the expression of the energy after returning back home. It's a season of joy." Along with the listening session, Json also announced tentative plans for a tour in August and September in support of Foreign. You can download "Love Me," the first single from the album, for free
on Soundcloud now. Be sure to follow Json on
Facebook for more updates on the album and upcoming tour.
