It’s no surprise that Christian bands have found their songs used to promote things like television shows, sporting events and even various products, but ambient pop group Kye Kye takes that to a whole different level.
Rather than just feature the Portland, Ore.-area band’s music in some commercial, car maker Lexus featured the group—not just their music—in a video that highlighted the new CT Hybrid vehicle.
With the song “Glass” from latest album Fantasize serving as the backdrop, the two-minute, forty-five second video shows the band driving around Portland in a shiny red CT Hybrid, juxtaposed with images of the band performing and exploring the city.
The music pulls back to hear lead singer Olga Phelan give a brief monologue about creativity: “We believe that one of the biggest things that connects us as human beings is a desire to create. It’s a commonality in everyone that’s expressed so differently. We do this through music. Others do it through pictures or through film… or even designing a car.”
The Lexus partnership isn’t the first for Kye Kye. According to Gill, the band has been featured in the 2012 film Day One, has been heard in MTV's Awkward, and can be found in a slew of commercials for the Samsung Galaxy S III, Jawbone JAMBOX, VSCO Cam for Android release, and Squarespace.
