Gotee Records’ pop sensation Jamie-Grace today announced that her breakout single, “Hold Me” (featuring tobyMac), has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
On Facebook, Jamie-Grace expressed her excitement, thanking Jesus, her listeners, Christian radio and her parents.
In a changing music landscape, many factors come into play when designating Gold status to a single, including downloads, YouTube plays—where Jamie-Grace built and maintains a sizable following—and other streaming services. To achieve Gold, "Hold Me" surpassed the 500,000 threshold.
Gotee Records told NRT that the announcement makes Jamie-Grace one of only four female Christian artists in history to achieve Gold for a single. She joins a class currently made up of Britt Nicole, Francesca Battistelli and Laura Story.
In addition, Jamie-Grace is joined by Grits as the only two Gotee Records artists with the designation. Grits’ 2002 song, “Ooh Ahh” (also featuring tobyMac) also recently received Gold status from the RIAA.
