Singer/songwriter/worship artist Phil Wickham will be singing in his first string of shows this weekend--for the first time since undergoing his vocal surgery.
"Doctors and speech therapists have sent cameras down my throat to look at every angle of my vocal chords, and they have given me a clean bill of health. So thankful!"
Wickham wrote today on his official blog. He noted that he's been told "there is almost no sign of the surgery, which is pretty rare."
His performance at Alive Festival in Ohio on Thursday, June 19, is his first in almost three months.
"I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous, since the last time I sang a full set my voice was all but dried up," Wickham noted. "More than nerves though, I am beyond excited to lead a group of people in worship again."
He'll also be performing Friday and Saturday in Prescott Valley and Tucson, Arizona.
Wickham said that while singing feels much better now than it did pre-surgery, it will take some time for muscles to rebuild and for things to somewhat get back to normal. He asks for prayers for "continued strength" and progress.
"The last few months have been a roller coaster of fears, hopes and unknowns. Thanks be to God for His strength and love to carry me through this, and I am trusting Him now as I continue to move forward," Wickham wrote, noting that the experience has giving him a "new depth of gratitude" for what God allows him to do.
