For King and Country's Luke Smallbone sent out a petition for prayer yesterday, asking fans to lift up his six month old son, Leo, who will be undergoing a major skull surgery today.
Luke posted a photo of he and the baby on the band's social media channels, commenting, "Tomorrow at 7:15am our sweet little Leo will have skull reconstruction surgery and would love it if you could pray for him and for us. I sit here 12 hours before we'll leave for the hospital and I didn't think I'd feel much. But I do." Even in the midst of the emotional pain and stress surrounding his young son's situation, Luke took the opportunity to share the love and hope he has experienced through Christ, saying, "I so wish he didn't have to walk through the physical pain, but the fact that he can have healing and restoration is a gift from God. The heartache that I've experienced makes me very grateful that God allowed Jesus to die for us because my love is a broken love (yet still I feel so much!) but God's love, perfect. I wonder how much more God's heart must have ached! Because of Jesus, my wife and I have this great hope and trust me ... we cling to it tightly!"
Baby Leo is no stranger to hospital stays at this point,
having nearly lost his life last September when the infant unexpectedly stopped breathing. Fans flooded the Smallbone family with prayers and well-wishes at the time, and little Leo came out of the ordeal happy and healthy. Luke mentioned the upcoming skull surgery at that time, although the two incidents have no medical correlation: "He'll need a fairly major skull surgery in the next few months which was unrelated to the episode but he's a strong, healthy boy with a full recovery expected."
Luke's current post requesting prayer for Leo's surgery has been shared over 1,200 times on Facebook, showing overwhelming support for the family. Please keep Leo and the Smallbone family in your prayers today and keep tabs on
