After 3 albums and a live DVD with Spring Hill Music Group, Grammy-winning Southern gospel artist Jason Crabb has signed with Reunion Records, part of Provident Label Group, a division of Sony Music.
"I love Spring Hill. They helped launch my solo career and I'm very thankful to them for that," Crabb said to Billboard. "I've enjoyed my time at Spring Hill. I love everyone over there but I just think this is the right move."
A deep-rooted Southern gospel artist since the beginning of his career as lead singer of The Crabb Family singing group, Crabb and his new team at Reunion are going to be careful not to abandon his long-time Southern gospel fans. While Crabb dabbled in others genres such as mainstream country and Christian AC with Spring Hill, the Kentucky native's move to Reunion means expanding his audience to reach new listeners.
"He knows his audience quite well and [so does] his management and agents. There's a team around him that's not going to let them vanish," says Provident Music Group president/CEO Terry Hemmings to Billboard. "But there's also a team here that we believe can find more people to enjoy and appreciate what he has to say."
While considering his next move, Crabb, a Grammy winner and 21-time Dove Award winner, had plenty of options; he considered going independent and had offers from four different labels before ultimately deciding to sign with Reunion Records.
"They've come to me with some really wonderful ideas and I just couldn't turn it down," Crabb tells Billboard. "We're going to go all different routes. They said, ' Just be you and lay it all out there. We want to help you make the best Jason Crabb record you can make.'"
