It's a big deal when a Christian rapper has the No. 1 overall hip-hop album in the country--mainstream or otherwise. It's perhaps an even bigger deal when that rapper has the No. 1 album in the country, and the album doesn't even come out for more than a month.
That's the story with Reach Records frontman Lecrae, whose Sept. 9 album Anomaly currently sits atop the iTunes hip-hop/rap charts, driven entirely by preorders, which went live Monday night.
Listeners who preorder the album don't have to wait too long for new Lecrae tunes, however; they get instant downloads of the new singles "Get Nuthin" and "Fear."
Besides gearing up for the release of Anomaly, Lecrae is prepping for his fall Anomaly Tour featuring Andy Mineo.
In other Christian hip-hop news, fellow faith-based rapper Bizzle's new project, Well Wishes, occupies the No. 4 spot on the iTunes overall hip-hop chart.
