Billboard.com has been holding a series of polls to determine the strongest of a group often overlooked: the fans. Hard rock act Skillet's fanbase, affectionately known to the band for many years as the Panheads, has been consistently keeping itself in the running with surprise victories over fanbases of other mainstream rock acts. You can visit this link to vote in the current round.
Skillet's John Cooper, Korey Cooper, and Jen Ledger have taken the call to arms seriously, challenging fans to vote through creative social media involvement. As the band headed into round 3 after a solid win over Iggy Azalea's fans in round 2 and surpassing the fanbase for One Direction in round 1, frontman John Cooper began taking to instagram to post super hero themed calls to vote.
John and Korey Cooper also got their children (pictured left) in on the promoting action, dressing them as Star Wars characters for the cause. The quote Billboard shares in the poll offers John Cooper's gratitude to their diverse fanbase: "The fans are the reason we're here. I love having all different types of fans."
This campaign comes in middle of another busy festival season for the band, who has continued to rise to new heights with the aid of an incredible dedicated fanbase that pushed 2009's Awake to platinum certification and is propelling 2013's Rise in a similarly successful direction.
