After news broke of production on a movie based on Jeremy Camp's "I Still Believe" song and personal testimony, and last year's massive breakout hit about MercyMe's "I Can Only Imagine," many Christian artists are looking for ways they can bring their music, stories and life experiences to the big screen.
Enter Dan Bremnes, whose new album, Wherever I Go releases on Friday, April 5th. Dan recently announced that for the past year, he's had a camera crew follow his every move for a completed documentary that simply follows him around over the course of a year.
"I thought, 'wouldn't it be great to go on a year-long journey with one man in under two hours and just see where life takes him? This isn't concert footage, or behind-the-scenes in the studio. I put a lot of that footage and effort into my YouTube series where I filmed a music video in 8 countries. This is all the other footage of my day-to-day this past year, which I think is equally interesting!"
"It's not that interesting," said one mixed review after the film previewed early for audiences at Sundance Film Festival. "Dan goes to, uh, a lot of places," said the reviewer. "Like, a lot."
"It started to feel a bit like a children's book series," said another reviewer. "Dan Goes to the Grocery Store. Dan Goes to Get the Mail. Dan Goes to Bed. Again. And again. Pretty much every night. I left a bit confused."
Dan, for one, won't be discouraged by any bad press. "I made this movie and took on this journey for my fans, and not for movie critics. If they don't like it, they can go other places."
After a dramatic pause that would make most seasoned movie actors jealous, Dan added, "Heaven! They can go to heaven! I believe God will welcome even film critics!"
