Fans of Amanda Noelle have been stunned by singer-songwriter's announcement yesterday that she has cancer.
In a Facebook post to fans, Amanda said she went to the doctor a week ago to investigate some digestion issues she was having, which ultimately led to the discovery of a large, cancerous tumor in her digestive system. Amanda also noted that doctors were looking into the possibility of the cancer having spread to other parts of her body.
The diagnosis puts Amanda on a treatment plan that includes five weeks of chemotherapy and radiation and then eight weeks of rest before surgery to remove the tumor. As if that wasn't stunning enough, Amanda said she doesn't have health insurance, which has been a paperwork and financial nightmare.
"But strangely through this whole process, I've had peace." Amanda wrote. "My God is still in control. My God always has and always will take care of me. I do pray for healing but more than that I pray that satan does not get the victory and that God would change lives through this story. This is just the beginning of a difficult but beautiful road."
Since the annoucement, Amanda says she has been overwhelmed by the response and show of support, which includes the creation of a GiveForward account to raise funds for her medical bills. As of this article, supporters have given nearly $18,000 (out of a goal amount of $150,000). To give, click here.
Amanda's 2013 debut album, Beautiful Name, earned her critical acclaim, and propelled her to win the "Next Big Thing" award at the 2013 WE LOVE CHRISTIAN MUSIC AWARDS.
