In a post on social media last month, We Are Messengers announced that their bass player Drake Kennedy would soon be leaving the band. This weekend, Drake wrapped up his final shows with the band during the last dates of the Power Tour.
"Drake has given so much of his life and heart to We Are Messengers these past few years," lead singer Darren Mulligan wrote. "Unfortunately for us, God is calling Drake elsewhere. Honestly, this really hurts. I feel kind of nauseous even typing this and funnily enough he is sitting across the table from me in a coffee shop. He's the guy that introduced me to coffee vibes. The guy who carried more for this band than he should have," Darren continues.
"The guy who has loved me at my best and at my worst. The guy who has lifted all our spirits when we couldn't get off the floor. I don't have a lot of true friends but this kid is one of them. That will not change. I'm on your side forever D. I told you I'd always be here for you and I will, we all will. Kyle, Drew and I will miss you more than you will ever know. We are excited for you and will cheer you on wherever God leads you," Mulligan concluded.
