This evening the winners were announced for the 2020 GRAMMY Awards, with Christian and Gospel artists representing five categories.
for KING & Country won both their nominated categories including Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for the collaboration with Dolly Parton on "God Only Knows" and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Burn the Ships. Watch their acceptance speech for "God Only Know"s here.
Kirk Franklin won both of the categories he was nominated in as well, with "Love Theory" winning Best Gospel Performance/Song and Long Live Love winning Best Gospel Album. In his acceptance speech, Kirk recognized Gospel music's other nominated artists saying "I get to tell the world about Jesus the King because it's all about Him!" Kirk finished up by sending prayers to Kobe Bryant and his family. Kobe, along with his 13-year old daughter and seven others, were killed in a helicopter crash earlier in the day.
Later in the night, Kirk performed on stage with Rick Ross and John Legend during a tribute for Nipsey Hussle.
Rounding out the faith-based categories, Gloria Gaynor won Best Roots Gospel Album.
