While many people are planning their Christmas shopping plans, The Rocket Summer is undertaking a somewhat more ambitious holiday project. The band, a project of frontman/one-man-band Bryce Avary, will release a Christmas EP—that hasn't yet been written.
"Starting today I'm going to begin writing a Christmas EP entirely from scratch," Avary wrote today on The Rocket Summer's social media outlets. He went on to say that he plans to record the album next week and release it in the next few weeks.
It remains to be seen whether the EP will feature any semblances of traditional music or if the entire project will be original. Regardless, the band should have no trouble coming up with enough material in time; in an interview from this past May, Avary told NRT he had more than 80 demos on his iPad—and that was after the release of Life Will Write the Words, The Rocket Summer's latest release.
To that end, Avary posted on Facebook that he had a "long and super successful day of writing for the Christmas EP."
