Recently on social media, Switchfoot announced that their guitarist Drew Shirley would be leaving the band. Drew joined Switchfoot in 2004, shortly after the release of their fourth studio project, The Beautiful Letdown. In 2021, he shared that he would not be joining the band on the Into The Mystery Tour with NEEDTOBREATHE and The New Respects, and this week, the band announced that he would be parting ways with Switchfoot.
"After years of sharing the road, Drew and the band have decided to take different paths and will be parting ways," Switchfoot posted on Facebook. "We love Drew dearly, and we are so thankful for the time and memories we have had. This has certainly been a difficult season for us, encountering challenges that have ultimately taken us in different directions."
"[Drew] remains one of my favorite guitar players and one of my favorite people," lead singer Jon Foreman tweeted. "He is irreplaceable and will be dearly missed. Lots of love to the Switchfoot family worldwide."
We ask that you keep Drew Shirley and the rest of Switchfoot in your thoughts and prayers during this time of transition. Stay up-to-date on the latest Switchfoot news by keeping watch on NewReleaseToday.com and Switchfoot's social media pages.
