What was supposed to be a closing celebration last week on Winter Jam's 40-city 2023 run turned into a bit of a nightmare for Frannie Rae Cash, frontwoman of the night's headliner, We The Kingdom.
Known for performing her entire set barefoot, Frannie was belting out the chorus of the band's massive hit single, "Holy Water," when she stomped down on an abandoned Part #3003, better known as a 2x2 plastic LEGO® brick.
After every parent in the audience gasped in solidarity at the instantaneous pain that shot through Frannie's body on stage, a second wave of gasps erupted as the repeatable lyric, "Holy Water," turned quickly into a screeching... something else.
"I'd like to apologize to all the wonderful fans that came out to see us tonight," said a bloodshot and exhausted Frannie after the show, still nursing her tender, bare sole. "We exist to encourage people, spread love, and have a blast on stage, and tonight, we stepped in it. Rather, on it."
Fans were quick to forgive and rallied around the beloved new headliners. "I have never experienced pain like when I've stepped on a lego," said one mom after the show, hugging her six children she brought to the family-friendly event. "And I birthed every one of these monsters naturally!"
Many dads held no issue with the reaction. "I've said the same thing," one said. "I've said much worse," echoed his friend. "I've picked up the kitchen table and thrown it through my living room window after I stepped directly on a 900-piece firetruck from my lazy little master builder," said an obviously still bitter third parent while his friends nodded in understandment.
Amidst the chaos, there were numerous reports of a dad rushing quickly out of the arena holding a hysterical child screaming for his lost lego.
