This year Derek Webb is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of his album Mockingbird, a project which was key in establishing his voice as a thoughtful, honest social commentator. He also credits the album as being part of the impetus behind founding Noisetrade, the pay-what-you-can website which has revolutionized the way musicians relate to their audience.
Webb is celebrating the anniversary with a kickstarter campaign honoring the album through multiple re-releases. Mockingbird will be pressed to vinyl for the first time. Derek Webb will also be creating a remixed, re-imagined version of the album by taking the original vocals of each song and rebuilding the rest from the ground up. Finally, he will be performing the album in full band format in Nashville, filming the event for fans unable to attend.
The kickstarter campaign is fully funded several days before its target end date, but fans continue to get on board to celebrate the album and the influence it has had in their own lives. You can visit the campaign page here.
