Here's what's happening TODAY in Christian music...
1. Kyle Kupecky and wife Kelsey announced to the world they're expecting a boy! They've already picked (and shared) a name: Hudson. They said Hudson is both a surprise and a miracle, and they couldn't be more excited.
2. Caleb + Kelsey--the married couple representing both Anthem Lights and 1 Girl Nation--said they got a brand new bedspread that really reflects their passions. It's a giant set that makes the bed look like a pepperoni pizza. We don't think they really got it, but kudos for sharing the memorable photo!
3. Speaking of Anthem Lights, the band is always covering songs, and they just released their take on throwback hit "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. It'll get lots of plays, because they've solidly established themselves as YouTube stars.
4. Worship leader/author Carlos Whittaker has a sizable social media following, and he activated them after he said a rental car company overcharged him. The company apologized, agreed to refund the money and is giving him a complimentary rental. They asked if Whittaker could tweet something positive to offset the negative publicity, and he said he'd be happy to as soon as his money has been refunded.
5. Sanctus Real has released a lyric video for their new song, "Longer than a Lifetime," which features throwback archive footage of the band on tour and behind the scenes. It's a great companion to the "best of" album that the new song accompanies.
6. Reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry joined Lecrae onstage recently and showed off some dance moves. The outspoken Christian athlete has long been an admirer of the Reach Records rapper.
7. Jonny Diaz took his daughter to her first concert over the weekend. He said it's safe to say that little Charlie is a NEEDTOBREATHE fan.
1. "Neighbor Kid: 'Mr Max, are you a real pirate?' Me: 'Not really, but I have sailed the seven seas, got a tattoo of a ship on my arm, met many a fair lady, been in some fights, and have pilfered ideas from the treasure chests of the artistic collective..' Neighbor Kid: 'Sounds real enough to me...'" - Kevin Max
2. "A stage is made of material that will fade away, but I use it to declare eternal truth." - Rapper Beacon Light
3. "While you and I may have been born broken, God won't let us stay there. Healing is real; we can go from wounded to mended if we take the hand of our Healer." - Matthew West
