I'm thankful for God's guidance in writing "The Complete Guide To The Bible" | Posted April 17, 2016
Hello Stephen,
You don't me, but in reading your profile, I see that we have things in common. For one, I am a native of KCMO, but spent most of my time growing up in Shawnee Mission, KS, and going to PSU for college. I also have a very good friend who graduated Kent State about two years after you did.
However, the real reason I'm writing is to thank you for the "Complete Guide to the Bible", which I found on a book rack near the pharmacy counter at our local CVS Pharmacy back in January. I have had an opportunity to not only read through the entire book, but to take inspiration from the work you did on the Book of Job. In fact, I am very thankful for the inspiration and guidance you have taken from God in putting the entire Guide together. In the sermon I just delivered, I mentioned that I thought the book would be perfect for people who are not just "new believers", but absolutely new to our Lord. Your style of writing, as I mentioned to my congregation, is not preachy or church-speak, but very fresh and open. Reading it made me interested in continuing to the end and that's what we need when it comes to putting the Word into the hand of everyday people.
Since moving to Silicon Valley almost 27 years ago, my wife and I find that the demographics have changed dramatically, in that we have so many foreigners here, mostly from India and China, hired by Apple, Google, Intel and all the other "techie" corporations. I am very thankful to see a book like the Guide, sitting at CVS, and written in a way that non-native English-speaking people can understand.
