Five Score And Seven Years Ago
by
Relient K At first, I didn't like this album at all. It's hard to top Mmhmm, so it really disappointed me. Many months later, after deciding to relisten to it, I found that it wasn't as bad as I originally thought...
Cities

Anberlin Prior to listening to Cities, I didn't care much for the lead's vocals. In fact, at times, I thought them to be a bit annoying.
Overall, this album is really pretty good. My favorite three tracks are...

Disciple I'm a big disciple fan, so my review is bound to be biased. I'm a fan of their newer stuff, but their older stuff is classic stuff. They never fail to deliver a great sound with amazing lyrics....

I've listened to a lot of other debut bands who have put out better debut CDs than this one. "Live Like We're Alive" and "The Real" are the only two songs that I'd say are worth really listening to...and it just so happens that they are both played on radio stations online.
As for the rest of the album, nothing truly stuck out to me...everything kinda sounded the same after a while.
FIF doesn't disappoint | Posted July-18-2007
My favorite track is definitely "Oh, Canada." You can't really beat lemings in the sea. With its crazy lyrics and fresh ska sound, FIF has made yet another masterpiece.
I regret... | Posted July-17-2007
...not listening to these guys sooner. They have a surprisingly hardrock sound which is always a plus for me. Each song is unique and catchy in it's own way.
Decyfer Down deserves to be recognized with bands like Skillet and Blindside.
Rockin...a little bit harder it seems | Posted July-17-2007
I got the feel like Pillar turned up the notch a little on the rock meter. It's your same Pillar sound, just with new harder tracks. The songs make for a pretty decent live show too.
This CD didn't impress me as much as Where Do We Go From Here, but it was still way worth listening to. My favorite tracks include: "The Reckoning" and "Angel in Disguise."
Extra the awesome | Posted July-17-2007
Basically, the limited edition is your standard Where Do We Go From Here...with cool extra bonus stuff! Yeah!
Ok.
So you get 2 extra tracks: "Sunday, Bloody, Sunday" and "Bring Me Down (Underground Remix)"
You also get an extra dvd disc with all kinds of cool extra stuff which include the music video, the makings, photos, etc.
If you already have Where Do We Go From Here, and want to go the extra mile, or are a Pillar junkie, the limited edition is a great addition to your CD collection.
Simply...awesome | Posted July-17-2007
It's been a while since I bought this CD but it still makes it's appearance every once and a while. My favorite track changed just about every week.
"Simply" and "Rewind" are slow-rock songs with powerful lyrics. "Bring Me Down" "Hypnotize" and "Frontline" are the hit songs. Pillar definitely did not disappoint their fans with this album.
Finally! A band who has reached...The Surface | Posted July-17-2007
I love just about every song on this CD, minus maybe one song. Debuting, TBR has managed to put out an impressive album. I'm a bit surprised why not many people have discovered them yet...
Along with this CD, comes 3 bonus tracks which are also pretty good. If you are looking for a solid CD with an awesome rock, new-kick flavor, check out TBR and Even Heroes Need A Parachute. You won't be disappointed.
Not bad | Posted July-17-2007
I wouldn't say this is the greatest CD ever. But it's by far not the worst. Most of the songs kinda give you the "get up and go school someone" feel. (or maybe that's just me haha)
It's the same energy, same rock feeling you get from all of TFK's stuff. So if you're a TFK fan, definitely go and get this CD.
I'd say "Breathe You In" has the best lyrics on this disc.
God-sent | Posted July-17-2007
The thing that stuck out to me the most about this album was that you can tell that throughout the whole CD, God was the focus. The lyrics prove it, and if you've ever seen them live, you know it.
My favorite songs include "Sound of Melodies," "Reaching," and "Carried To The Table." These songs have been played at retreats I've gone to and concerts.
There is something about the sound - the vocals, or somethin, that makes Leeland special. Sound Of Melodies is a CD your whole family can listen to. I highly recommend it.
A band that makes it to the Grammys HAS to be good! | Posted July-17-2007
Debut CD, released on 6/6/06.
That says a lot. Red as an in-your-face we are warriors of Christ, made it loud and clear who the next band to watch is. Now, I want to make it clear that even for those who don't particularly like screaming, DO NOT BE IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF. I can't stress this enough. Red, compared to MANY bands, does not even come close to the amounts of screaming one can fit into a single CD.
"Breathe Into Me" is the first real song (excluding the intro track). It has reached high on rock charts. This single is, in short, amazing. "Already Over" is another popular song on this album, with "Already Over Pt. 2" as a duel-song depicting life. The song "Pieces" is the designated "slow track" of the CD and is my favorite song. The lyrics are absolutely AMAZING.
The other tracks are just as great. "Wasting Time" is my second favorite off the disc and "Gave It All Away" comes close.
Basically, Red has made a new era in music. They combine hard rock with soothing and haunting melodies. And with this CD alone, Red has made it into my top 5 favorite bands.
