Their Energy Shines the Brightest... | Posted May-17-2010
Because of their unshakable stance as the very best hard rockers in Christian music, it is really not a surprise that their energy whines the brightest in a live recording. Like all live recordings, the songs aren't as "perfect" as on the studio recorded CD's, however for a live recording, these songs sound awesome! The list of songs was amazing, ranging from their earlier days to to Comatose. A list of rockers mixed in with more melodious softer hits makes for a very enjoyable listening session all in all!
Sweetness... | Posted May-14-2010
From some of the reviews I was expecting an only vaguely Christian cd, but I had heard enough songs by him to fall in love with his music. I was surprised at the messages that he brilliantly wove through his songs. Songs that convey Christian messages this beautifully with such an incredible sound should not be looked over, even though secular radio stations are claiming them as their own. I LOVE Mat Kearney's sound and the parts of his soul he carries into the music, and I think you'll enjoy this cd too. His music is a bit like a cross between Coldplay and TobyMac, however his style is so unique
Gotta Love This!!! | Posted May-14-2010
This is really an incredible CD. Although he has dropped his 'acoustic rapping' his voice still retains power and gentleness which made "Nothing Left to Lose" so special. On this disc he explores some of the themes of the "Nothing Left to Lose" album a little bit deeper. "Annie" could be a continuation of "Can't Break Her Fall" or "Girl America". "Closer To Love" details the power of prayer and hope. "Fire and Rain" is a re-telling of the biblical prodigan son. In "All I Have" Mat Kearney dedicates his music and talent to God. "New York to California" is a very sweet love song. "City of Black and White" is a song of hope that community will thrive. In "On and On" praying is the key to happiness. This is a very good CD, and I love how Mat Kearney has grown and matured in his faith and his music. Buy it, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Switchfoot At Their Best! | Posted May-14-2010
In my humble opion this was the absolute best CD of 2009, and certainly of Switchfoot's best! It was such a surprise to come across songs with incredible depth and brilliant sound techniques. As usual, the trademark Switchfoot lyrics are intelligent and provoking, but this CD seemed a little more spiritually minded than some of their previous albums... very, very, very, well done. I can't wait for the 2010 release Vice Verses; considering how great the album was, the next will have to be breath-taking!
