A Noteworthy Release | Posted November-11-2011
I recieved a copy of the Born Again: Miracles Edition at the Uprise Festival in Shippensburg, Pa this past September. Now, let it be said that I have been a fan of the Newsboys since the days that Peter Furler was part of the band. Regardless, I was sad to hear that the Newsboys were breaking up a few years ago. Let it also be said that I have been a fan of dc Talk for a while too. I used to rock out to their Single "Jesus Freak" all the time. So it was sad to see that band fade away as well. Then, this past year, I attended Winter Jam in Reading, PA and was surprised to see Newsboys finishing off the night. What also surprised me was to see Michael Tait as the lead singer for the band! And let it be said, they put on quite a show!!
Now, the point of this lengthy intro was to explain that a majority of the song they preformed at Winter Jam came from their new album "Born Again". After the concert was over, I knew I had to get a hold of the album. Sadly, I did not have the opportunity to get a copy at the concert. It would be almost 6 months later until I had the opportunity to acquire a copy of the album. But the album I recieved was even better than I thought. I attended Uprise Festival in Shippensburg, PA where the Newsboys closed the concert again. As a promo, the band gave out free Born Again: Miracle Editon albums to the fans. So, I finally had my copy. And I was so greatful to get it too.
The album contains the content from the Born Again (Delux Edition) as well as some new remixes of favorites from the CD, including "Mighty to Save (Family Force 5 Remix). One favorite of mine is "When the Boys Light Up", which tells the story of the band break up and its reforming.
All in all, Born Again: Miracles Edition contains upbeat and uplifting music that everyone can enjoy. The Newsboys, old and new still stick to the main purpose of bringing glory to the Creator.
Her Best So Far! | Posted October-11-2011
In the past, Sara Groves has come out with many albums; each unique in their own way. Her newest album, "Invisible Empires" Groves takes a more mellow and warm sound whihc could be found scattered through much of her other albums. After listening to the preview of "Invisible Empires", I went and pre-ordered her album, knowing this one was a gem. There is not a song on the album I do not like and look forward to listening to the beautiful melodies and messages she incorperates into her music. Buy "Invisible Empires" now! You won't regret it!
Raw Beauty | Posted October-11-2011
In Sara Groves' CD "The Other Side of Something", the raw beauty of this artist shines. The CD includes all aspects of life; from the high points down to the low points. The song "Esther" speaks of a missionary who has a heart for children around the world without the luxuries of life and breaks a person's heart. The whole album is like an open book to Groves' heart and soul, leaving nothing out of the light. While this is one of her earlier albums, it is still one of her greatests.
Awesome Remix!!! | Posted March-22-2011
Being a die hard Skillet fan, I could not wait to hear this exclusive 4 track EP called "Awake and Remixed -EP". So I pre-ordered and waited with baited breath for the hour it would show up in my iTunes. That day came last night and the songs could not load up fast enough for my excitement! 14 hours later, I have listened until I could practically sing the songs myself. "Awake and Remixed" is the perfect balance between techno and the Hard Rock Panheads dearly love. "Awake and Alive (The Quickening)", the first track of the EP has the ability to rebirth the song into something fresh and new. It also includes new vocals bits from Jen Ledger not heard on the original version of the song. "Hero (The Leigon of Doom Remix)", composed by John and Korey Cooper, raises the bar on this increasingly popular hit. "Don't Wake Me (Pull Remix)", throws a curve to the melody of the powerful song "don't Wake Me". With new guitar mixes incorperated into the melody, it changes the whole feel of the song into something panheads everywhere will love. Finally, "Monster (Unleash the Beast), sheds a new light on the Billboard topping favorite. Parts of the mix appeared at the beginning of recent Skillet podcasts, leaving panheads begging for a way to enjoy the ear candy of this remix. Composed by John Cooper and Gavin Brown, the remix includes new vocals bits from Jen Ledger and Korey Cooper. In summary of the album, my only regret is that it only includes 4 tracks. Nonetheless, I am a satified panhead and eagerly wait to see what is next to come from the band Skillet.
My apologies to any information that is found to be incorrect.
Amazing!! | Posted November-09-2010
I used to listen to Boggs when he played with FFH and thought he was awesome then. Their message was clear in all of their works: to praise God with their music. His new album still holds to the purpose of glorifying God. Keep it up!!
