Bring back Phil

Over the years I have grown less and less drawn to the Newsboys. I miss their golden days with hits such as shine, breakfast, take me to your leader, spirit thing, and entertaining angels. The last Newsboys album that I truely enjoyed dates back to thrive.

The latest project,in the hands of god, seems to be lacking. Nothing that gets my blood boiling. No catchy tunes that I will be singing or rockin out to down the road. The only song I semi-like is the title track. Something is missing and maybe it's their first follow up without Phil joel. It is missing his musical flare that he brings to the classic Newsboys sound.

Now with Peter Furler not touring and michael tait filling in, I am left to wonder if their time has come. I know they are a christian favorite, but for me I haven't been feelin the vibe for many many moons. With Phil gone, Peter not wanting to tour, it is just not the same. 14 albums is impressive and I have a feeling they aren't done yet, but slowly the band is starting to lose it's grove.

Newsboys fans I hope you feel different and enjoy their latest project. For me it is lacking. Nothing new or exciting they bring to the table. Hopefully,if they stick around, they will bounce back and will produce something extraordinary like they did in their glroy days.
