By The Tree's debut album, Invade My Soul, was the first release for new label Fervent Records and was one of the most refreshing surprises of their release year. The songwriting from Chuck Dennie and Kevin Rhoads, founding members of By The Tree, is aimed at the modern rock/pop sound. By combining the great songwriting skills with Steve Hindalong (Jars Of Clay, City on a Hill) and Bob Wohler, you get the incredible debut album. Almost every song resonates with pure passion from lead singer Chuck as he literally pulls you into hanging onto his every word. The music is fresh, and the songs are Christ-centered. There are no such things as highlights on Invade My Soul as every track is just as good as the one before. This was a top 10 album of 2001 for me.
