Epic - Manic Drive's Most Accessible Album To Date
Posted July 10, 2012
By Fahulala,
I've been a fan of their previous albums, but I find "Epic" is my favourite Manic Drive album. From start to finish, it's a strong album. Where their previous albums were rocking fun, this album keeps the rock, but adds funky dance beats. This album will likely find a greater audience with this balance. "Epic" changes may be ahead for Manic Drive! (Sorry guys, I went for the silly pun.) "Halo" is a great song that you'll want to listen to many, many times. The chorus most definitely manages to get stuck in your head, so you'll be singing it for days. "Epic" is an album that bears repeated listening. The funny little intro's remind me of dc Talk's similar starts to their songs on "Intermission". Not only do the intro's add some humour, but they also make for a smooth listen from song to song. "Good Times" is irresistable as a sing-along, as well. "Money" and "Go Big or Go Home" are equally grooving. It's impossible to sit still and listen to these! "Save A Life" and "Mountains", the two slower songs on the album are surprisingly beautiful and every bit as enjoyable - lyrically beautiful and pretty melodies. Am I the only one that hears the start of "Positive Radio" and finds myself reminded of the beginning beats of "Jesus Freak"? Positive Radio - Decent Christian Talk?? Do you see a connection, or at least an homage? I know they're fans of the band, dc Talk. Manic Drive first came to my attention with their song "Blue" featuring Kevin Max's amazing vocals. Love it! Still listening to that song and the songs from "Epic" weekly! Check these guys out! Definitely worth a listen or two, or three, or four, or ...
