Powerhouse gospel vocalist and worship leader Jaye Thomas is back for the first time since his debut in 2008. This time, he brings us a Spirit-filled album recorded live at the OneThing Conference and appropriately named Here Is My Worship. After coming from a long line of minsters and studying jazz at Duke University, it's no surprise that Jaye is not only good, but also passionate at what he does.
With the help of vocal ensemble The Cry singing background, this album finds the diversity to catch you from the beginning and keep your attention until the last note.
"Oh Come Let Us Adore Him / Come Holy Spirit" takes a Christmas classic and tastefully turns it into a simple song of praise, setting the tone of worship for the rest of the album. Well known worship songs like "Agnus Dei", "Holy Is The Lord", and "O Lord You're Beautiful" make their way into the final cut, with each version giving a new sound to the already well-done tracks. "Treasure" places emphasis on the value of God and the reward we have in Him, while "Clean" talks of our strive to be pure and right in His eyes.
"Fill Me" and "We Make Room" are moving prayers for more of God and His presence. Such songs as "How Long - Praise Adonai", "Simple Song", "Here Is My Worship", and closing song "We Won't Stop" serve as powerful yet catchy and memorable calls to worship God for all He is and all He's done.
Closing Thoughts:
There's no doubt that Jaye Thomas is talented and this album is proof of that. His silky smooth yet fearlessly solid voice controls every track, leading his audience of 25,000 into a wonderful time of anointed worship. Big things are sure to be in store for any man who puts as much passion and soul into his projects as Jaye has demonstrated here.
