Synth Love Overload

By Snoutman,
Gregg Hart has done it again. As a big fan of his previous work, I can tell you that this latest release does not disappoint. Building on strong melodies and powerful lyrics that he is known for, Hart stretches his creative muscles in a whole new and exciting manner. The man has a lot to say and fortunately for us all, he has a brilliant way of saying it.
The opening track, "Before the Storm" draws us into a cinematic world of dreamy synths and atmospheric effects. The track lays the groundwork for the story that follows perfectly. Hart knows his way around a keyboard and it shows, right out of the gate.
Other standouts are the ballads "Ruined" and "Don't Give up Me". Both feature brilliant vocals and lyrics that capture your heart (paraphrasing the lyrics themselves). Beautifully written and performed.
The track "Real" veers from 80s style pop to power ballad and beyond. It has its roots in the early work of synth pioneers like early Howard Jones, then takes on a life of its own.
My personal favorites are the track "Assurance" which features some of the best vocals on the album. Excellent harmonies backed by that classic synth sound that Hart is known for. Just top notch musicianship, all around. And "Lion Tamer" which is just pure awesomeness. Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.
I can't say enough good things about this album (if you couldn't tell). And, if you like it as much as me, I highly suggest seeking out Gregg Harts previous releases. You will not be disappointed. View All Music And Book Reviews By Snoutman | View Snoutman's Profile
