Breath Deep [edit]
by Jami Smith | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: January 01, 2000

Truly what is happening around us is affected most by what is happening within us. When we speak of our "faith" and our "journey," most often we fail to ask the proper questions that would reveal the reasons we choose the things we do. Is your citizenship truly in God's kingdom? Are you being shaped by the life of God? Does your faith have substance? The impact of personal faithfulness and the effectiveness we exert through our reach into the world around us depends on the character being formed within us.

Whether or not we know it, our post-modern world is desperate for the content of genuine Christianity. We long for meaning and for a bigger story that our life can fit into; one that can provide a real framework of understanding for our existence. We look for something to transcend the shallowness of entertainment, which only seems to suck us into self-destructive behaviors, negative attitudes and bottomless despair. We crave unconditional love, selfless attention and an all-consuming reason to care.

This worship CD project is an invitation for you to take in the substance and the presence of God, to disconnect from the superficial and to breathe deep the things of God. Our life in Christ has substance and significance and structure. It is more than a ritualistic activity or an empty idol.

These songs are much more than tunes captured on a piece of plastic. The music and worship recorded on this CD are intertwined with purposeful and liberating theology; in short, they are Truth set to music. It is time we approached worship as more than a can of soup to be opened and seved simply to satisfy temporary hunger pangs. These songs and this music have been born out of the eternal substance of God's word and beg for our careful and soulful consideration spanning repeated and lengthy reviews.

Once opened and served, the can of soup is gone. But the substance of these songs lives on in the lives of everyone who will take the time to Breathe Deep.
