Redefining the proposed gap between the sacred and the secular, singer/songwriter, Brady Toops, makes music that appeals to the soul. Drawing inspiration from artists like Jon Foreman and Johnny Cash, Brady combines elements of traditional folk, rock 'n roll, and gospel. His latest project, a self-titled full-length album set to be released 8/27/13 and produced by David Leonard (of “All Sons and Daughters”) displays a unique combination of hymns, spirituals, and traditional singer/songwriter tunes. With its hymn-like melodies and organic tones, this record blends modern sounds with a vintage feel.
Having grown up in New London, a small Minnesota town, Toops spent the majority of his early years running around on diamonds and athletic fields. After making a brief stint in Minor League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, he left the world of athletics in 2006 to pursue his first love, music. Being accustomed to life on the road and traveling more miles than one cares to count, Brady finally made his way to Franklin, TN in the spring of '09 to team up with songwriter/producer Anthony Skinner. In the early summer of 2011, his 5 song EP, "A Little Love", was released and included co-writes with Jared Anderson (Integrity/New Life Church) as well as Anthony Skinner.
Now based out of Nashville, Tenn. Brady has teamed up with an incredible community of talented artists and friends to collaborate on this latest record. The highly anticipated collection of tunes includes co-writes with David Leonard (Integrity), as well as Anthony Skinner and Mia Fieldes (Hillsong). As displayed in songs like "By The River", "Lord Have Mercy", and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", this record is filled with themes of hope, love, pain, and redemption capturing the heart and essence humanity’s reach for God.
