It’s been less than a week since TV watchers saw Anberlin's Stephen Christian “come on down” on The Price Is Right, yet another artist in Christian music is finding his way on a game show of sorts.
Singer-songwriter Brady Toops is probably the first Christian artist to be included as a part of… The Bachelorette?
True enough the 33-year-old--who released his self-titled debut album in 2013--was among the 25 men taking part in the ABC speed-dating-to-find-a-spouse reality show. This year, the show featured a twist in which the 25 bachelors voted between two bachelorettes to select which woman would become the titular lead.
While Britt Nilsson didn’t receive more votes from the guys than Kaitlyn Bristowe, Nilsson did receive Toops’ vote. And even more than that, at the first rose ceremony, Toops removed himself from the competition, instead hoping to start a relationship with Nilsson.
Nilsson, 27, is an aspiring actress in Los Angeles who attended Asuza Pacific University and has publicly declared the centrality of her Christian faith in her life.
A number of reality TV bloggers have
reported that the pair are in fact dating, noting that the
Bachelorette crews recently filmed the pair at a Nashville Trader Joe’s. Although they’re not part of the competition anymore, it appears the show will be keeping tabs on these two throughout the season.
And we’ll bet this is a story you never expected to see on a Christian music site.
