Deadline
by Adriana Lima | Genre: Fiction
Release Date: May 1994

Deadline is the story of a politically correct journalist forced by tragic and mysterious circumstances to come to terms with his own mortality. In the process he must also deal with the consequences of his skewed perspectives on life, family, morality, and religion. Intended for believers and unbelievers.

Deadline portrays friendship, family, faith, morality, social decline and media bias in the context of an unpredictable and hopeful story of personal crisis and change. The second story line, on death's other side, compliments the who-done-it mystery. Deadline is a unique pro-family, pro-values, pro-life, pro-faith book. It portrays the vital connection between how we think and live in the present, and how that will inevitably impact our future, both on earth and in eternity.

Review:
Deadline is Randy Alcorn's debuting mystery. As with all debuts, it isn't spectacular. The story is about a newspaper reporter in Seattle whose life entangles with an eccentric private investigator. The reporter's family is in a disarray, and this fact adds to the story's intrigue. The mystery is slightly simple and predictable, complete with an all-too-predictable final scene. On the good side, there are characters introduced whose lives are not fully explored. This makes the reader want more and leaves room for a good sequel. The best thing about it is that he opens up a completely new subject no author has ever explored: life in heaven. This subject is deep, descriptive, intriguing, and believable. This also keeps the reader looking for a sequel. 3 stars

one of my favorite books | Posted October 18, 2008
i remember when a friend at a local bookstore told me to read this book. it quickly grabbed my interest. it was a mystery and yet something more. it was interesting. the characters made me think. what was going to happen next? the premise of the book is that a man and some of his friends were going to pick up something to eat. there is an accident. the man survives but his friend's do not. why did he live and they both die? was this really an accident? you'll have to read the book to find out.
