Well I had coffee with Jesus yesterday
He had dark circles under His eyes
He sat down and He ordered an espresso
And said, 'I've been working overtime'
He seemed in good spirits just the same
Said, 'I still love my job
But I'm just trying to keep up with the times
Did you hear, there's a Jesus.com?'
When I had coffee with Jesus
And I said just between us
'Do you still believe in us?'
When I had coffee with Jesus
I said, 'you know, my daddy, He's a doctor
Thought I had big shoes to fill
But I can't even begin to imagine
What it must've been like for You'
He smiled, nodded His head and said
'It's a bit overwhelming sometimes
But at least you know if you screw up
Well my dad, He's the forgiving kind'
I had coffee with Jesus
And I said just between us
'Do you still believe in us?'
When I had coffee with Jesus
Said, 'everybody's asking for a miracle these days
They want the seas to part
Or the team to go all the way
They should look closer, might be surprised
All the miracles right before their eyes'
He said, 'look at the time, must be on my way
Daylight's burning, there's always souls to save'
I know this is just a dream
But let's do it again sometime
He said, 'hey! I'm free Friday, how about supper?
I'll bring the bread and wine'
