SEEDS
(Words and Music by J. Douglas Wright and Brandon “Swaff” Swafford, 2019)
White-haired Annalisa spent the springtime planting seeds while the wind was blowing|Everybody couldn’t wait for summertime to come so they could see her wildflowers growing|Fast forward two decades|White-haired Annalisa has gone away|But look around I declare growing up everywhere|Her wildflowers bloom to this day|We may never see|What the future brings|We’re just planting seeds|We may never know|When they start to grow|We’re just planting seeds|Michael with the sad face slammed the back door, cursed his mama as he ran|She threw her hands in the air fell down on her knees in prayer|Said, “I’ve done all I can to raise a man|But two steps forward three steps back|Sometimes all I see are the things I lack”|So don’t ever give up|Keep on digging in the dirt|Even though it may hurt|That’s the time to keep looking up|Though it’s falling apart and it looks like the end|Good things are coming back again|One thing you always should know|There will be reaping|To what we sow|We’re just digging dirt and planting seeds|We’re just looking up and planting seeds
