What do I do with
The abandonment wound
That you left me with
When you left me this
Isn’t how it’s supposed to be
I needed you close to me
But, you chose to leave
Why am I so
Darn affected by this
I am stuck in the cold
Darkened center of it
Left without needed protection
Somehow this feels like rejection
Oh, Lord, come to me
Oh come, Lord, to me
What do I do with
The abandonment wound
That you left me with
When you left me this
Isn’t how it’s supposed to be
I needed you close to me
But, you chose to leave
Why am I so
Darn affected by this
I am stuck in the cold
Darkened center of it
Left without needed protection
Somehow this feels like rejection
Oh, Lord, come to me
Oh come, Lord, to me
Where do I go
When the brokenness shows
I’ll get over it when I’m over it
Time is no healer of wounds
Like most people assume it is
It’s God’s faithfulness
Lord, see the cavernous
Hole in my heart
And remember Your promise
To be who You are
Tell me I won’t be forgotten
Bind up this wound
I’ve been caught in
Oh, come, Lord, to me
Oh, come, Lord, to me
Though the mountains be shaken
And the hills be removed,
Yet my unfailing love
For you will not be shaken
Nor my covenant of peace be removed
Says the Lord
Who has compassion on you
(Isaiah 54:10)
In your unfailing love
You will lead
The people You have redeemed
In Your strength
You will guide them
To Your holy dwelling
(Exodus 15:13)
But I trust in Your unfailing love
My heart rejoices in Your salvation
I will sing the Lord’s praise
For he has been good to me
(Psalm 13:5-6)
The Lord delights in
Those who fear Him
Who put their hope
In His unfailing love
(Psalm 147:11)
You will not abandon me
To the realm of the dead
You make known
To me the path of life
(Psalm 16: 10a-11a)
May Your unfailing love
Be my comfort
According to Your promise
To Your servant
Let Your compassion come to me
That I may live
For Your law is my delight
(Psalm 119:76-77)
