There was a time before I saw my healing
There were years before I felt this peace
There was pain so deep it sent me reeling
and it seemed as if God were asleep
But in me, God was working, working
He loved me when others called me lost
He lifted off the darkness lurking
and put my guilt up on the cross
I had to believe before I saw it happen
I had to hope against my doubt
I had to wait when results weren’t rapid
I had to ask ‘cause I didn’t know how
Yet Jesus has a way of being enough
Whatever stage of life we’re at
He’s big enough for me to trust
and kindly gives all that I lack
