Tell me Jesus loves me
That He'll wash my sins away
Tell me Heaven's waiting
And that I'll see you there someday
I met her late somewhere on nowhere street
How she got there she don't know
In her pursuit of happiness she'd lost her way
And gone as far as she could go
We talked a while and then the tears began to fall
What she wanted was to make sense of it all
She looked at me and she said...
But now I sit here in a chair beside her bed
And hold her withered hand in mine
Past mistakes can sneak back up on you
And, Lord, they'll steal away your life
I close my eyes and fight the tears and say a prayer
I look toward Heaven 'cause I know she made it there
And I smile at her and I say...
Today she found what she'd been looking for
When like a bird she flew through Heaven's doors
And I still hear her say to me, she said...
She woke up somewhere on Heaven's streets
She's gone as far as she could go
