There's a road that leads to happiness in small old country town
A road that's lined with sticks and leaves and sunshine all around
A road that I remember always took us to a place
Where friends and family gathered 'round
And no one was out of place
We didn't have a giant steeple like the church just down the block
And we didn't have 1000 people come to join our flock
But what we had there was plenty of
And I thank the Lord above
Cause what we had at our church
Was love
Oh country church where the old folks come to pray
And the church choir sings the old old hymns
While the children laugh and play
Oh country church I can see you now
Drifting through my memory
As I picture you somehow
Dad would preach to those around
As Mom would sit and smile
And Suz' and I would watch the kids
In the nursery for awhile
While my Aunt Ruth would play and sing
As she led the church in song
Oh how the people loved to sing
As they joined along
After church we'd laugh some more
And then sit down to eat
With tables full of home cooked meals
As we drank down something sweet
And after that we'd play some ball
Till the sun was goin' down
Oh I remember Sunday's
In that happy little town
Oh country church where the old folks come to pray
And the church choir sings the old old hymns
While the children laugh and play
Oh country church I can see you now
Drifting through my memory
As I picture you somehow
