To the cross i cling
To the cross of calvary i go
When everything is bleak
And nothing's as it should be i go
When i am guilty of wanting the gift
more than the giver
Guilty of loving puddles more than rivers i go
When i've been a fool
Thinking i might find peace apart from you
I am reminded of a grace more spacious than the skies
And i stand on the promise of your word
And i find myself deeper into you
Where i can't recall the reasons why i doubted
i disbelieved your faithful word
Sometimes i've got to run to that cross to come undone
From the weight of myself
Condemnation cuts me deep
When on the cross i forget to keep my mind
I am so easily persuaded to see my sin
More than the savior
So easily berated by the gimmicks of that stranger in my mind
So i stand on the promise of your word
And i find myself deeper into you
Where i can't recall the reasons why i doubted
i disbelieved your faithful word
