I once was a canvas all clean and pristine
But You found me
I was hoping for fabulous when I gave
You the pencil and paintbrush to mark up this page

When all that I see is where I am

If I quite like the hues that You use just to show

That these brush strokes and dashed hopes
Must mean something more
Than this forest I can’t even see for my fears
Of what You will bring
