Tension, the critically-acclaimed RockFest Records debut from Christian rock hitmakers and fan favorites Random Hero, is making an impact on both mainstream and Christian charts this week, marking the highest chart debuts in the band's history. Bowing at #21 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as at #26 on Nielsen SoundScan's Current Hard Music Album Sales chart, the August 23 release also debuted on Billboard's Christian Album Sales chart at #13.
Continuing a banner week, Random Hero announces the addition of guitarist Micah Labrosse to the lineup. Following stints with Disciple and Spoken, among other leading acts, Labrosse officially joins longtime Random Hero members Aaron Watkins (vocals), Rob "Los" McDonough (bass) and Patrick Madsen (drums). Labrosse's credits also include production work for Dallas-based pop/alternative rock band Page 9.
"We are so pumped about Micah's addition to our Random Hero family," said lead vocalist Aaron Watkins. "Micah has played with us in the past and because of our personal chemistry--both on and off the stage--we just knew he was the right fit. We are incredibly excited about what God has ahead for Random Hero."
Produced by Memphis May Fire's Kellen McGregor, Tension is Random Hero's most melodic, hook-laden release to date. Driven by the title-cut and debut single--a thematic cornerstone of the album--the project is receiving critical praise from media.
JesusFreakHideout.com says of Tension, "... Random Hero has crafted an excellent project, one that can definitely contend for rock album of the year. ...this release is one you won't want to miss out on"; while NewReleaseToday.com hails Tension as "...an album that belongs in your rotation just as much as long-time veterans Disciple or Skillet. ...Tension is a fantastic rock album that will leave you feeling empowered and hopeful through whatever difficulties are going on in your life."
Additionally, TheChristianBeat.org says, "Random Hero delivers another level of powerful rock anthems and deeply honest messages with Tension. ...For listeners who find themselves in these same spaces in their lives, Tension provides solidarity, understanding and hope." And RockOnPurpose.live calls Tension "...undeniably the strongest release from Random Hero yet. ...Random Hero is on a whole new level with Tension."
Debuting selections from Tension during a recent string of dates with GRAMMY®-nominated rockers RED, Random Hero is also set to headline multiple concerts around the country this fall.
Since the Denver-based band's formation more than a decade ago, Random Hero has earned numerous Top 5 Christian rock singles, including "Mirror Mirror," "Not Alone," "Burn Up the Night" and "Mercy," in addition to the Top 30 mainstream rock hits "Impossible" and "Running." Among the band's accolades, Random Hero has worked with former Skillet guitarist Ben Kasica and they were featured on the hit MTV show "Made," as well as multiple stops on one of rock's biggest traveling festivals, the Vans Warped Tour. Regularly showcased on Christian music's top rock outing, the City RockFest Tour, Random Hero continues to be a mainstay at fairs and festivals around the country and internationally. Their discography includes 2013's Carry Me, Bury Me; Oceans of Change (2014) and The Covering (2017).
