Christian rock band 6th Day Made debuts this month with their breakout single, "The Story of Love." The single is available now at digital retailers everywhere including iTunes and Amazon.
While 6th Day Made is a relatively new act, its members have shared the stage with many of Christian music's biggest names, including Newsboys, Jeremy Camp, Hawk Nelson Thousand Foot Krutch and Crowder. The Michigan-based band consists of lead vocalist Jason Eaton, guitarist and background vocalist Mark Maggard, Randy 'Doc' Healy on bass and Jeff Trent on drums.
The band's Biblically-inspired name actually came from a fan suggestion. The Bible says that on the sixth day, God surveyed all He'd created and saw that it was good. When the group heard it, Maggard recalls, they collectively said, "How profound is that?"
6th Day Made mixes together a wide variety of sonic elements. These stylistic variations can range from U2-inspired guitar-driven melodies to bright, energetic Brit pop song structures. "We really have a diverse style," says Maggard, "from pop to Latino rhythms, along with jazz sensibilities, including swing with rock and reggae mixed in."
Their debut single, "The Story of Love," perfectly underscores 6th Day Made's mission. "As we read about Jesus on the cross, we picture it in our mind." says Maggard. "And greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. It's not a love story; it's the love story. It's the story of love in the highest; it's the story of God's love for us. So it's really an extraordinary experience for us to be a part of the song."
Christian music fans will find 6th Day Made on the road this summer, including stops at Big Ticket Festival, Unity Christian Music Festival, Heartbeat Of Plymouth Festival, Lapeer Days Festival and more.
The band is currently in the studio recording a 5-song EP due this fall. A live DVD is also in post-production for release later this year.
